If you go back to chapter 1 you will find perseverance springs from knowledge. Picture a fountain (that's the way Betsy explained it)with faith bubbling up and out of it bubbles moral excellence, out moral excellence bubbles knowledge, out of knowledge bubbles self-control,out of self-control bubbles perseverence, our of perseverence bubbles Godliness, out of Godliness bubbles brotherly kindness, out of brotherly kindness bubbles love. And all of it really bubbles from faith. Can't you just picture Christ with his hands open with the gift of faith and when you open that faith there is just an explosion of gifts.
