Wind and Words

Today is a very windy day in Columbia, SC. It is rather cold too. As I have watched leaves blow across my yard, it has reminded me  about a CD I recently listened to on the subject of The Excellant Wife. The speaker spoke on many different things regarding The Excellant Wife, however one point especially caught my attention. The point was in  regards to words. It was not on the words that we say, but on the words that are said to us from others.
There are times when a friend, family member, or even a stranger can say something  that hurts my feelings, or puts me on the defensive. There are times when I don't say anything back to them, but a conversation begins in my head. It's a conversation that can go on and on, and I have throughly expressed MY feelings, and thoughts right back to them. For goodness sakes, this conversation can go on for days  sometimes. I am thankful that as I have become older, this has become less of an issue because of the help that the Lord has given me. I am also thankful that one of the benefits of being a "little" older, :), is that I have lived long enough to sort through some of those conversations. The teaching on the CD has given me even one more way to look at words that offend me.
There are some words that are said to us that need to blow right past us. We are to be mature enough to discern which words need to "just" blow away with the wind. I like that. Perhaps, today something was said to you and it is time to just let them go and blow away with the wind. Pray and ask God to help you discern what to let blow on by. He is faithful and he cares about our mental and emotional health. Perhaps the wind is the medicine we need today.

God's Voice vs. Satan's Voice

A friend of mine posted this picture on her facebook page today. Sometimes a girl or maybe even a boy needs a reminder such as this. I know I did.   How about you?

Birthday Party

It's a BIRTHDAY Party!

Spencer's birthday is tomorrow and he is headed out of town to go to the Panther's game, so we celebrated tonight. Kynn cooked! We ate ribs, hamburgers, sausage, sweet potato fries, mushrooms, rice and hash, corn on the cob, broccoli, venison hash and rice and strawberry short cake. We are stuffed to say the least.

Yummy Ribs

Birthday basket with favorite treats.

I made him take this picture. Can you tell he was thrilled? It is the "you are special" plate.
Christopher wanted his picture taken with his plate too! Funny guy! :)

One year at Christmas, I gave Spencer a nutcracker. It was not his favorite gift. We laughed about the gift and Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Earl have given Spencer many nutcrackers over the years. It has become a fun tradition. He has a nice collection of nutcrackers that we all enjoy over the Christmas holidays. He also gets a little money to go along with his nutcracker. :)

This is our Daisy girl. She does not have much energy these days, but she does love Spencer and wishes his a very happy birthday.

Happy Birthday Spencer

We have a birthday boy this week. I guess I should not say boy, because he has definitely grown into a fine young man. Spencer Lee is 25 this week. He was born September 16th,  on a Wednesday at 6:40 pm weighing in at a big 8lbs. and 11oz. He did not have much hair, but the little bit that was on his sweet head was curling. The first thing I said to Kynn about our sweet baby was, "He has your hair." We were totally amazed that as soon as Kynn started talking to Spencer, he turned his head towards his voice. He recognized his daddy's voice.

We are proud to call Spencer our son.

Fall is in the Air

Today, my sister, Beckie, came to Columbia to spend the day. We enjoyed our time together and had a craft day and went for lunch with our other sister, Cynthia. Beckie has blogged about our day. Please visit her blog to see our project.

Turkey Hunting

More pictures from the weekend Turkey Hunt. The guys had a blast. When they got home I heard all the stories from the hunts. There was much laughter and fun memories have been made. We also have turkey in the freezer.

Christopher got one too.
