Birthday Party

Sunday night we celebrated Kynn's birthday. We ate at the "Ol Hamberger" and then came back to our house for cake and presents. Bobby and Marlene went with us. The guys rode in the back of the truck.

Microwave safety reminder

Yes....It's a picture of the microwave and we send a reminder message to everyone to be very careful when heating up food.
Last night, Jamie decided to reheat a bowl of chili for a late night snack. He removed the bowl of chili and all of a sudden, the chili exploded right in his face. It was extremely HOT. It splattered on his shirt and face. He did receive a burn under his left eye but fortunately that is all that was burned. Be careful everyone! Be sure to cover your food and let it sit for a minute or two before removing it from the microwave.
Here's to the weekend!!! :)

It's the weekend Baby!!!

Friday Sept. 19th. We started our weekend with dinner at home. Alex helped prepare dinner.

After dinner we went down town to the annual Greek Festival. Alex, Jamie and Megan decided they would like to go too. We ate a sampler plate of Greek pastries. I think I may have gained a pound or two.

After we left the Greek Festival, we went and made a visit to our State Capital. It was such a nice evening. The temperature has finally cooled off. Jamie, Alex, and Megan ran all the way to top of the steps. Kynn and I just watched. :)

Sat. morning, Alex learned how to do his laundry. I told him his mother would be proud. Sat. afternoon, Jamie and Alex joined Spencer at the USC vs. Wofford football game. Yeah!!! Carolina WON!! Go Gamecocks. Alex said, "It was FUN!!!"

Worth Watching

My dear friend, Meg Mollohan, sent this video to me today. I had seen it a while ago, but I watched it again today. It is such a wonderful reminder to all of us of the transforming POWER of the Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you will take a few minutes to be richly blessed. Have a great day.

It was a Busy, Busy Weekend

We had a wonderful busy weekend. (Sept. 12-14, 2008) Friday afternoon began with Jamie and Alex helping out with the yard work. Friday evening, Jamie just hung out at home, so he could rest up for the ACT (college entrance exam) which he took Sat. morning. Alex went over to a friend's house for a "movie night". Kynn and I attended a Sunday School Party over at Cynthia and Earl's house. Saturday morning, Jamie headed out for his test, Alex went to the lake for the day and learned to water ski. (He got sunburned!) Christopher came in from Anderson to attend the USC football game with Spencer and Jamie. Kynn and I also went to the football game with Cynthia and Earl. Sunday we went to church and ended the day taking Spencer out to eat for his
birthday dinner. Bobby and Marlene joined us for dinner at Outback Steak House. Yum Yum!!

Alex did great job cutting the grass. One thing for sure, IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE!

It's the weekend Baby!!!

It's the weekend and we are glad. I wish I could say we are going to have some down time, but I think we will be on the go all weekend. Tonight we have a Sunday School party with our newlywed class ( see http://www.gonetothechapel.blogspot.com/ ) Jamie and Alex have been invited to a night at the movies, but Jamie can't stay too late because he takes the ACT in the morning. Tomorrow, besides Jamie's test, Alex will be leaving early to go water skiing with Marion Crane and several other foreign exchange students. FUN TIMES! The rest of us will head out to the USC-Georgia football game. GO GAMECOCKS! Sunday we have church and then we will all take Spencer out for his 21st birthday dinner. Yes, you heard me right....21st. My first born is 21. I know, I can't believe it either. AND Christopher will be coming home for the football game. I'll have all my children near me at one time or another this weekend. That's what I call a TREASURED MOMENT!!! How I do love them. Have a great weekend everyone. :)

Friends from around the world

This past Saturday we had several foreign exchange students come over to our home to play ping pong, basketball, and football. It was really hot and everyone ended up at the Crane's pool for a swim.
We had friends from Mexico, Brazil, Palestine, Tunisia, China, Slovakia, and USA. I don't know everyone's name but I will update this when I get a chance to check with Jamie and Alex.

Alexandre AKS Alex

I believe that Alexandre will be called Alex. We have told him we will call him either name. :)
He had a good night and enjoyed meeting some of Jamie's friends. Today, he went to school with Marion Crane, and I joined them to get him registered in school. We toured the school and he knows where his classrooms are located. On the way home from school, we stopped by my sister's house, Cynthia, so he could meet his host aunt. :) He'll have more family than he'll want by the time this is all over with. We will shop this weekend for a phone card, so he can stay in touch with his momma. I tell him that is VERY important. :) Also, he will buy some shorts for his weight training class at school. He will return to Brazil with some BIG muscles.

Alex has had a good day. He smiles a lot and continues to ask very intelligent questions. We are glad that he is here. It is raining a little today, as a result of Hurricane Hanna. We plan to be outside tomorrow to meet the neighbors.

We are sure we have many fun times ahead of us with Alex.

Our family is pleased to have a foreign exchange student living with us for the next 5 months. Alexandre is 16 years old and will be attending High School. He had a long flight from Brazil and we know that he is very tired tonight. He is watching his first Carolina Football game. We had a gamecock t-shirt and hat waiting for him when he got here. Tomorrow we will get him registered for classes and show him around the city.
