Last weekends activities with Alex

Last Friday night, Kynn and I took Alex shopping to buy new shoes. After the shopping, we met Bobby and Marlene at Crackel Barrel for dinner.
On Sat., Alex had the opportunity to clean his bathroom. Won't his Momma be proud of him? He said she would be very impressed.
And, above is a picture of our "Blended" worship service at Shandon Baptist Church. We love our church. Why not check out our church.? Our pastor, Dick Lincoln is such a great preacher and man of God. You can listen to his sermon on the churches' website. Go for it. I promise, you will be blessed.

It's the weekend Baby!!!

Friday Sept. 19th. We started our weekend with dinner at home. Alex helped prepare dinner.

After dinner we went down town to the annual Greek Festival. Alex, Jamie and Megan decided they would like to go too. We ate a sampler plate of Greek pastries. I think I may have gained a pound or two.

After we left the Greek Festival, we went and made a visit to our State Capital. It was such a nice evening. The temperature has finally cooled off. Jamie, Alex, and Megan ran all the way to top of the steps. Kynn and I just watched. :)

Sat. morning, Alex learned how to do his laundry. I told him his mother would be proud. Sat. afternoon, Jamie and Alex joined Spencer at the USC vs. Wofford football game. Yeah!!! Carolina WON!! Go Gamecocks. Alex said, "It was FUN!!!"

It was a Busy, Busy Weekend

We had a wonderful busy weekend. (Sept. 12-14, 2008) Friday afternoon began with Jamie and Alex helping out with the yard work. Friday evening, Jamie just hung out at home, so he could rest up for the ACT (college entrance exam) which he took Sat. morning. Alex went over to a friend's house for a "movie night". Kynn and I attended a Sunday School Party over at Cynthia and Earl's house. Saturday morning, Jamie headed out for his test, Alex went to the lake for the day and learned to water ski. (He got sunburned!) Christopher came in from Anderson to attend the USC football game with Spencer and Jamie. Kynn and I also went to the football game with Cynthia and Earl. Sunday we went to church and ended the day taking Spencer out to eat for his
birthday dinner. Bobby and Marlene joined us for dinner at Outback Steak House. Yum Yum!!

Alex did great job cutting the grass. One thing for sure, IT WAS HOT OUTSIDE!

Allyson, Lorie and Rad at the Sunday School party. Daisy was so HAPPY to see Christopher.

Our appetizer. The famous Bloomin' OnionBloomin' Onions are tasty, just ask Marlene. Spencer's annual gift of a nutcracker from Aunt Cynthia. This year he received a pirate, and some cash!! I think all college students LOVE cash. As a matter of fact, mother's of college students LOVE cash.

Our first born is 21.
Spencer put on his "pretty" face just for Marlene. It drives her crazy!!! :)

Alexandre AKS Alex

I believe that Alexandre will be called Alex. We have told him we will call him either name. :)
He had a good night and enjoyed meeting some of Jamie's friends. Today, he went to school with Marion Crane, and I joined them to get him registered in school. We toured the school and he knows where his classrooms are located. On the way home from school, we stopped by my sister's house, Cynthia, so he could meet his host aunt. :) He'll have more family than he'll want by the time this is all over with. We will shop this weekend for a phone card, so he can stay in touch with his momma. I tell him that is VERY important. :) Also, he will buy some shorts for his weight training class at school. He will return to Brazil with some BIG muscles.

Alex has had a good day. He smiles a lot and continues to ask very intelligent questions. We are glad that he is here. It is raining a little today, as a result of Hurricane Hanna. We plan to be outside tomorrow to meet the neighbors.

We are sure we have many fun times ahead of us with Alex.

His very first Chick-fil-a sandwich

Our family is pleased to have a foreign exchange student living with us for the next 5 months. Alexandre is 16 years old and will be attending High School. He had a long flight from Brazil and we know that he is very tired tonight. He is watching his first Carolina Football game. We had a gamecock t-shirt and hat waiting for him when he got here. Tomorrow we will get him registered for classes and show him around the city.
