Activity #2
After we celebrated Jamie's birthday, he and Alex headed out for a halloween party. Momma and I went outside to put out a few halloween decorations for our trick or treaters. While we were out, we decided to do a little tricking ourselves. We put our mask on and rang the doorbell. I think it really surprised my daddy to see momma playing along with me. Great times.

Returning from the Mountains Activity #1

We arrived home from the mountains on Oct. 31st which is JAMIE'S BIRTHDAY.

Ah Yes!!! Loving on my 17 year old! Like it or not! :) (For Alex's mother: check out the picture on the table. Alex brought the picture out to the kitchen to show to my parents.) :)
Here he is, Mr. 17 year old, James Patterson Harris, AKA Jamie, in his new under armour USC coat and sweat pants. We are so proud of Jamie. He is truly growing into a fine young man. May God bless him richly in the years to come.

A Week in the Mountains

AHHH!!! Kynn and I were invited by our DEAR friends, Anne and J Rhine, to the mountains of NC for the week of Oct. 27-31. We were so excited and truly needed the break for rest and relaxation. And rest and relax we did. We spent our week in Little Switzerland, NC and God had a big surprise for us on our very first night.

You Guessed it!!! It snowed!!! We could not believe it. (The above picture was taken Monday night with just a little snow on the deck.)

Our first snowman for the season. We are hoping for a lot of snow this winter.

A United House
To my beloved Sisters who I esteem so highly and consistently find to be part of the solution to our problems in the Church rather than the cause,Please join me in praying for our President-elect Barack Obama, his wife Michelle, and his precious daughters, Sasha and Malia. Go with me before the Throne of our sovereign God and ask Him to grant wisdom from above to President-elect Obama and the indwelling presence and power of Jesus Christ. In the words of the Apostle Paul, "I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior...
"Please also join me in the active and deliberate pursuit of unity and purity in the Body of Christ at this historical time in our country. I implore you in Jesus' Name to have zero tolerance for prejudice whether it is regarding party-affiliation, color (whether you are Black, White, or Brown), economics or the like. Disagreement is not sin. Prejudice is. Satan has plotted events and planted attitudes that, should he be successful, will result in havoc. We must not stand for his schemes or cooperate in a single way. We would severely displease God and invite untold chastisement upon Christ's Church in our nation. Speak clearly to your children and graciously but emphatically draw a line in your work places and social circles regarding your stand against prejudice of any kind."Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, 'Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.'" Pearls to Ponder-For the Ladies

Hey ladies, ....Here are some words to ponder on as we go through our week. Currently, the ladies Bible Study group is reading the book, What happens when women say Yes to God, by Lysa TerKeurst. My new, sweet friend, Allyson Monferdini, emailed me the following "pearls which she found on TerKeurst website Proverbs 31 Ministries. I wanted to share these with all the ladies out there. THANKS ALLYSON!!! May God bless each of you as you love your husband.

"Love means commitment."
-Commitment to love him even when you don't feel loveable.
-Commitment to share yourself even when you want to be alone.
-Commitment to hope even when the circumstances say otherwise.
-Commitment to pray for him even when you are tired.
-Commitment to speak to him even when the words don't come easily.
-Commitment to the promise you made on your wedding day even when the promise feels broken.
-Commitment to a God who makes all things possible through Him.

I think marriage is an opportunity to live blind...
Blind to all the faults of your spouse.
Blind to all the clothes he leaves on the floor.
Blind to the flaws and failures that seem to become so magnified after the honeymoon is over. Blind to the other guy who seems oh-so-much-more interested in you.

And Deaf...
Deaf to the careless words and ugly tones that linger in your head after apologies have been spoken.
Deaf to the other voices telling you happiness is out there, somewhere, anywhere but in your marriage.

And a chance to become a student again...
A student of the man God has placed in your life. Discovering the subtleties of his character. The things that make him soar. The things that break his heart. The things he does well and not so well. The ways he communicates love, even when it's not the way you are used to receiving it. What his "quiet" means and what makes him laugh really, really hard.

Getting married doesn't instantly make you selfless... it makes you realize how very selfish you can be at times.
Getting married doesn't make you feel loved... it makes you realize love is more of a decision you make than a feeling you feel.
Getting married doesn't take away loneliness... it makes you realize true companionship comes not when you demand it but rather when you give it to another person.

Marriage is a beautiful chance to make the choice to...
LAUGH-whether or not the jokes are funny.
LOVE-by folding his collar over his tie every morning.
PRETEND-like you don't need flowers, but delight when he buys them anyway.
CHEER-him on through both failures and successes.
TELL-him he's a great man everyday.
THANK-God for the privilege of being his wife.

Pumpkin Carving Party

We had a pumpkin carving party with our Newlywed Sunday School Class at the home of Bobby and Marlene Chandler's home. One thing that we did not plan was the RAIN. The party was moved into the garage and we ate our hotdog supper in the house. Cynthia made all the wonderful desserts and decorations for us. Alex joined us and invited 3 of his friends to join us. It was the first time Alex and Yoa ever carved a pumpkin. We all had a great time.

It's time to Blog!!!

It has been a busy time and I have been away from the computer for several days. Over the next week or so, I will be updating the blog on all our fun events. We have celebrated Jamie's birthday, had a pumpkin carving party, spent a week in the mountains, visited with Gene and Anne and their PRECIOUS boys, went for homecoming at Anderson University.
