Floyd Update

Christopher just called. :) He went for a run this afternoon down by the duck pond. He stopped and called out..."FLOYD!" Well, Floyd came out of hiding and Christopher noticed that the leg tag has begun to cut into his ankle. (Does a Duck have an ankle?) LOL Christopher was able to pick up Floyd and free him of the leg tag. In Christopher's words......

"FLOYD IS OFFICIALLY FREE NOW!"
I must admit, I am happy and sad. I loved being able to know just which Duck was actually Floyd. I'm still hoping for baby Floyd ducklings.

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. ................

Mr. and Mrs. FloydKynn and I took a rode trip to Anderson on Tues. to visit with Christopher. It is so nice that it is not too far away. Of course, we had to go check on Floyd. He was sticking pretty close to the Mrs. (we still are not 100% sure that Floyd is a Mr.) We are hoping that springtime will let us know for sure which is the "momma" and which is the "daddy". Yes we are hoping for some babies. We KNOW that this is Floyd by his ankle tag. :)All the ducks decided that even though it was extremely cold, they still could sneak in one game of "Duck, Duck, Goose". Check out Mr. Goose in the upper right hand corner of the photo.
Just hanging out! Life is good. Floyd has never been happier.

This is the thawing pond. Christopher told us that it had been completely frozen last week. Fun times, and good memories with FLOYD THE DUCK!
Yes, Christopher is doing fine. We went out to dinner and had a great visit.

Guess who it is????

Kynn and I have had a wonderful week. We were invited to the mountains by our dear friends, Anne and J Rhine. We stayed in their their beautiful time share home in Little Switzerland, NC. Momma came and went with us and my siblings along with their spouses joined us for the weekend. Jamie went to Anderson and stayed on campus with Christopher for the weekend. On our way home, we went by Anderson to visit with Christopher and to see FLOYD. Yes, it is Floyd. If you look very carefully you can see his ankle tag. He appears to love his new home. How exciting to watch him. I will be posting other pictures from our weekend as time allows.

Remembering Floyd

Christopher had the following post on Facebook. It made me smile.

"hung out with Floyd today. He is doing good and he came up to me and ate out of my hand."

Floyd Update

Christopher reports that Floyd is doing very well. He went by the pond last night and Floyd was swimming with the other ducks. Christopher called his name and Floyd lifted his head and looked at him. Way to go, Floyd! We are happy for you.

Floyd

I have a picture or two and a video of Christopher and Floyd to post, hopefully after supper tonight. Christopher called and he has released Floyd. It was HARD! He'll give me more details later.

Monday Night

It's Monday night and Christopher leaves in the morning to go back to college. Where has summer gone? He will be taking Floyd with him to release at a duck pond in Anderson. What a fun summer we have had with the duck! We will miss Floyd and think about him a lot! I hope there is a girl duck waiting for him. :)This morning, Floyd was allowed to come into the kitchen to play for a while. (He was NOT an inside pet this summer) :) He will forever be a good family memory for all of us!

This is LARRY, not FLOYD!

Today we had an awesome afternoon with our newlywed class members at Lake Murray. BJ and Lindsay Belvelle hosted our lake day. The food and weather were just perfect. Kynn and I are so blessed to be serving these young newlywed couples.
As we were swimming, I noticed that something was coming to join us. No, this is NOT Floyd. Believe it or not, this is LARRY. He hangs out at BJ's lake house and loves to be around people. He actually got too close to me several times. I guess this is the summer for ducks in my life. Never in a 1000 years would have dreamed I would be playing with ducks! Go figure! This is crazy. :)

Floyd learning to fly

Kynn and I are so amazed at how much fun we have had this summer watching our grand-duck grow. Christopher calls Floyd his "son". He wants Floyd to fly so badly. Christopher is like a father trying to teach his son to ride a bike. He's making us laugh!

Floyd - The WHITE duck

Floyd has grown so much. He no longer has any yellow feathers. He's completely white and it won't be long before he flies. This video was taken Sat. afternoon in our backyard. We were outside doing yard work and Kynn was grilling. (We do love his cooking! )

Welcome Home Christopher

Another college year has come to an end. Christopher has completed his 2nd year of college at Anderson University and had a great year. He arrived Sunday night and came into the house and told us he had something to show us. He really wanted us to come outside. So, as we went outside, he told us he had a new pet. CHRISTOPHER, HAD BROUGHT HOME A DUCK! Can you believe it? Can I believe it? Can anyone believe it? Well, just believe it, because it is true. Christopher has a pet duck named Floyd. Now, I must admit, Floyd is cute. Really cute! But what does one do with a cute duck? Really, I am asking. What is he going to do with this duck? He plans on keeping it all summer. I'll keep you posted.
